i have a few specific med spas i would like to hopefully work for once i get my esthetics license. and i wanted to maybe find a way to write them a letter seeing if there was any receptions or other work i could do to kinda get my foot in the door and learn the rope around there and hopefully earn a position as a esthetician.if not any ideas how to go about asking such a thing and make it sound proper?

Esthetician, RN, LPN?
Im looking into careers and cannot seem to find answers. I want to be able to help people with skin. facials, laser, botox, etc etc. I know there is an esthetician but doesn't make as much money as i'd like to make. I was going to go into an esthetician program and see how I like it working in a spa or somewhere and if I did like it continue with more education such as an RN or LPN. but my question is do most medical spas, and physicians want RN's or is a certified esthetician acceptable? I've heard of estheicians going into the clinical area getting more certificates in laser and botox, but I've also heard they would rather have RN's...is this true? Can an LPN perform these things with an esthetician license? I really need more information!! anything will help. please give me as much info as possible. thanks!
Also how much money does an RN or other nurse make in a spa or physicians office?
p.s. i've asked this question before and no one answered. ive tried searching online and couldnt find much.
@ pooky- thank you, ive just heard from numerous people that some clinics allow an esthetician with experience and certificates in botox and such to perform that. and then ive heard the opposite so its very confusing. can you tell me how you got into the door at a dermatologists office after becoming an RN, like are you certified in anything else and what you perform there? do you know anything about RNs in spas? much appreciated!!

Buying Skin Care Tools?
I see it in videos with spas and Esthetician's, their tools that they use. What are they? I know of the blackhead tool that Tweezerman uses and that's not what I'm talking about. Things like this picture: http://blog.reneerouleau.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/lydia_renee_rouleau.jpg The little head wrap to keep their hair out of the work space or the facial sponges. Where do they get them?
Thanks!

HELP! I've been in Atlanta for a whole month and can't get hired! I'm even trying grocery stores!?
Okay. I'm a licensed esthetician and I've visited every company website within a walking/bussing radius of my apartment in Buckhead since arriving here to join by boyfriend last month. I have 3.5 years of experience and left a job as the lead esthetician at a four diamond resort to come here. I also have hosted at restaurants, worked as a title processor, salon receptionist, retail sales associate, art instructor, and of course i am definitely making sure this experience is reflected in my resume. Yet I am at a loss. I obtained my Georgia esthetics license prior to arriving. After scouring all of the positions available in Atlanta area spas, I ended up hand-delivering and emailing my resume to EVERY day spa, hotel spa, etc. within my area so that they have my information when something becomes available. Then i started looking for open positions and leaving applications on file with anyone and everyone. We're talking bussing tables, retail, receptionist, Target!! I have no pride issues at all, I just want a job! I stalk every single website daily and apply to any new listings i see that i think i may be qualified for. I am unfortunately without a car and so everything has to be walkable or bussable. The only thing i have wondered is if the job market is extra competitive out here. Does anyone have some insight about this city, or why it's so challenging to get an interview?

I got licensed about 6 yrs. ago now..time flies.:p I basically worked briefly waxing brows, doing some make up a couple yrs. back,(it was more like holiday help..) haven't done anything since. I like doing natural-based facials, makeup and waxings..anyone in the industry here know if I can do it out of my place, is it known? it has been useless looking for work a(I can only do weekends, as an esthy since companies only have seemed to want someone w/ previous 2+ yrs. experience, so haven't had luck with any salon/spas. Was thinking ppl might be into it if I offer super low prices. Pls let me know, what I need to know in working on my own. (Legalities? and such.)Thanks!!!
