What are the pros and cons of being a medical aesthetician?
Is the pay worth the money/time for the certification/degree? Does this field require a college degree?
There has been some confusion. I do not mean an anesthetist. I do mean an aesthetician, also sometimes spelled esthetician. An aesthetician is a skin care specialist.
Info I found myself: Training to become an aesthetician takes about 10 months and costs approx. K. Additional training may be paid by employer (dermatologist, medical spa, etc.) through companies who make the equipment. Starting pay at salon is - /hour plus commission. After experience, about twice that hourly wage. Some make 5% commission on the service and 10% commission on products. These $ figures are in north Alabama.

Can you reccomend a strong chemical peel that I can use at home ?
I'm looking for a strong peel to get better skin tone and to diminish wrinkles. At a spa you pay so much and have heard that there are good ones that one can use at home. Can you reccomend any "name brand" and where I can get it/cost. Thank you for your help!

how much can a massage therapist working in a hospital or chiropractic setting make?
I got accepted into a massage therapy program and i'm really excited about it. although, it looks like male massage therapists in spa settings don't do as well as females. so it looks like my best bet is to get into a hospital setting or chiropractic office. what is the job like in these environments? what are the hours usually? how much can I expect to make straight out of school? will a medical setting even hire me straight out of school?
thanks.

How can I become a receptionist?
I'm 18, already finished my first year at a community college, and I currently have a job at a drugstore. Everyone says that I have excellent people skills. I am pretty good with computers. I would like to work at a salon or spa or something of the sort. . .anything EXCEPT in a medical setting, actually. How do I go about doing this?

How can I get my skin to look fresher without gtting a chemical peel?
Some sort of mask or something at a spa? What works and how? I need smaller pores, and fresher looking skin. It looks kind of dull. And I do not want a peel, its WAY too gross for me.

I am asking anyone who is an Esthetician.. if they work full time and if they love what they do?
I had a conversation that was absolutely low down with an admission rep from Aveda School.. told me that the younger students do better and the beauty industry.. discriminates to hire older people. I was blow away by this .. hung up the phone cried.. then emailes the CEO of that school about this UnProfessionalism.
I was just wondering ... if I decided to take the 5 months Esthetician Course instead of the full cosmetology course which is where my heart is at.. would I be able to obtain a full time job once I get out of the program and lisenced? I called one spa and they told me that the estheticians and the massage therapists.. hours get cut.. when its slow.. Financially...being self supporting .. that is a concern. However.. Why should I invest in a cosmetology full program.. if I rather do body treatments and facials. Hope someone can help .Hugs

Can some one tell me of a home chemical peel that actually makes your skin peel off?
I've had one in a spa that made my skin peel off and all of my sun damage cleared off in that one peel. I'm scared if I buy an at home peel kit, it won't make my skin peel off.

Should I go to school to become a Massage Therapist?
I am an Esthetician. In the past few months clientele has started to dwindle. It is not just my spa either a lot of my friends in the industry have noticed this lately. My friends that do have a massage therapy license say there always busy with massage clients. I am thinking it may be beneficial to be dual licensed. The class is Mon- Fri 9-1 so I could still work nights and weekends. Is it worth it?

How much info do I need to include from high school/previous jobs on my resume?
I have my esthetician (facialist) license and I need to make a resume. I'm 21 and the only jobs I've had have been at a restaurant and tanning salon. I don't want my resume to be empty but I don't want to go too in detail about random things. That being said I'm really not sure how much to include about my high school activities/achievements. I'm just not sure that a spa cares if I was in Spanish club or played soccer. While I appreciate any help I'm just looking for answers to my questions or any advice, not someone who just posts 8 resume sites or tells me to google it.
Thanks everyone!
