Does microdermabrasion take out the gunk from pores?
I get a professional facial about once every 3 months and Im never satisfied with the results concerning my pores. I've told the ladies who do the facials what my concerns are about the gunk in my pores but they never have told me about microdermabrasion. I currently have an appointment to have this done but I don't want to go in with high hopes if its not going to be what Im expecting. So basically I want my pores to not have that dark look in them.

"Esthetician School Vs.Cosmetology School?" See Below>>>>>"?
I am planning on going to school to become a teacher.. I am still single and self supporting. I would like to obtain a short term skill ..one that I would enjoy.. in order to take this on first..prior to College. One that will be flexible..and that I can eventually get the clients to come to where I live for services in the evenings...or rent out a small room in a salon to do so.
My choices about are of the two areas of interest for me. I have read countless blogs about them both.. with mixed reviews. However..many Estheticians.. are getting out of school .. depending on which state.. they live in.. and not finding work. Some .. act like they never will lol.
The Esthtetician Program is 5 months. The Cosmetology.. I think is about 10. The Cosmetology includes.. nails.. and pedicures.. as well as touches somewhat..on facials.. I can though take some independent body wrap course and facial courses for skin care lines at these Beauty Supply Stores whom offer them for a few hours here and there. To get more skilled. Also.. I could do...this Extreme Eye Lash class that would enable me to also be equipped to do..Semi Permanent Eyelashes which are indeed costly.. as well as create spa baskets which would be for both areas.
However.. In WI .. you have to work a year or two even before your allowed to have customers come to you one on one for services.. with the exemption of those permanent eye lashes.
I could be a lash stylist on the side once taken the classes and practiced..
I am also interested in taking some on line or off independent classes for alternative reiki..tong ren etc.. color therapy.. and even color me beautiful.. which has to do with seasonal colors suited to the individual. All in which can some how be incorporated.. The Color me beautiful would go more with the full cosmetology. The alternative therapies more with the Estheology.
I could possibly even work on the weekends at a Cosmetic Counter in a department store.. and may also take a theatrical make up course to do that and contract myself out to theaters .. Opera Houses.. in town and out.. and Ballets. Also.. would go more within the full Cosmetology Course.
A woman wrote me back and said she owned a shop and has been doing this 20 years.. and complained to me she should have did nursing instead.. that she has carpal tunnel in her right hand and wrist and varicose veins. I find it hard to believe anyone would stay with something that long if it was so.. horrible or if the money wasn't there.. however.. My goal is to Only .. stay with it.. until I finish College and become a teacher.
The Esthetician .. I wanted to add.. is shorter in duration..of months to attend.. and more focused..however takes some time to build up clients .. unless I advertise word of mouth on foot and market myself. In my state there are not strict laws for Estheticians. I can work for myself as soon as I can get people..whether I am renting a room in a salon or.. work from where I live. But ..with Esthetician.. the services are limited to facials and body wraps. Which depending on how you look at it can be good or bad. I can also do make up for bridal parties on weekend.. and spa parties... for bachelorette parties.. on weekends for income.
But.. I again.. I need the flexibility to work weekends .. and to work nights..
Esthetican jobs require days and some early weekend and Saturdays.. but.. I don't think I can take those clients with me when I go.. is the only draw back.. and then will have to start all over on foot finding people again.
Which do you all think would work best for me.. and why?
Thank You

Is Gene Juarez a good school? How much does it cost?
I want to learn about cosmetology, esthetician (skin, facials, and etc.) beauty (make up, nails, and hair) and everything about cosmetology and (as in, learning about the face, face/beauty treatment) I want a degree in both. And I was wondering if Gene Juarez specializes in both? If not, can you suggest some other schools that's in Seattle, WA or near and the pricing please. Per semester/quarter/year, whatever works. All 3 would be nice though
Thanks! Also, is it hands on? And I was also wondering, what those people called? The people who prescribe you medicine or facial products for your face, skin, or anywhere on your body like creams and etc.? Are those dermatologists?

I recently had a facial where the lady used a needle to get out the blackheads. It hurt quite a bit definetely
more than a pinch, lady said they use needles because it was a "medical" spa and not a frufru spa. She said those kind of spas aren't allowed to use needles it was quite painful has anyone heard of this before? I have had many facials before but none with a needle.

Please help I don't kno what to do. School and work?
My ork schedule is Sun-Thurs 6AM-2PM. I want to go to school I did my Medical Assistant school and I guess the medical field is not me. I want to go to beauty school to become an esthetician ( doing facials and waxes). The course is about seven months I will start on Monday 28th of April at MARINELLO school 6PM - 10PM. A lot of people say that it would be hard. A lot of other people say its a short time for a something that would be your whole life. I am trying to find myself and I am hoping this is something I like. I do like it and very interested just looking at my options. Please advise should I do both and school would be Mon- Fri.

I'm considering going to school to become a esthetician and would like to hear from someone who does it…?
i went to dental assisting school 15 years ago and found it not satisfying. I just had a facial and the women suggested it because she loves it. I do love getting facials and have always taken great care of my skin but i do not wish to work on the weekends...will that be a problem?

question to estheticians
i am very interseted in becoming one. i love taking care of my skin and enjoy my facials(though i dont get them nearly enough:) at the spa. Im always researching online to see how to best take care of my skin. so, naturally, i thought this might be an ideal career for me.
what is the income like, and what is your opinion on being an esthetician? thanks!

How can I lauch an esthetic business from home?
I am a licensed esthetician and I'm looking to start a business from home. I live in California, so do I need a permit to operate? How can I market this business? What would be the average rate for facials and waxing? How can I build clientele? Thank you very much.

What license do spa personnel have?
I am looking into going to school to be an esthetician in Florida. I know that an esthetician can do waxing and facials but can they also do body wraps and all other spa services. I do not want to do massage, hair or nails. Also, does anyone know what a person working in a fancy spa near miami beach could make per year full time? Thank you.
