Do makeup artists need a cosmetology or esthetician license?

I was wondering if makeup artists in California need to have either a cosmetology license or an esthetics license to work in a salon? I believe that one is required, but my question is if it matters if the required license is of cosmetology or esthetics? See, I want to enroll in a community college, and I am not sure if I should take the esthetician or cosmetology path. I currently wish to focus on learning the basics of hair styling and whatnot, so I know that the ultimate choice would be cosmetology. However, if I decide to take a lean towards doing makeup, I want to have the correct license and knowledge of which would be the better path for that. Which one of those licenses is needed for makeup in a salon, and which would be more beneficial in your opinion? Thanks(:

Financial Assistance for Esthetician School?

I'm enrolled at The Salon Professional Academy in Fargo. I will be starting in September, but I am a little worried about the money for tuition and books, which is around ,000 give or take. They can't do any financial aid that is Title IV for the esthetics program (they can for the cosmetology and such, but not the esthetics one, of course.) They take cash, credit, or a loan - which leads me to trying to figure out how I am going to come up with 7,000 (they need the money before I graduate. I have a few months, but I am only 18 and my jobs don't pay me a ton. Plus I have to find a place to live.)

So my question is...

What kind of loans should I look into? My parents don't have the best credit, but myself am excellent at paying things back - I just happen to only be 18 and don't have any established credit...

Is there any non Title IV loans that could help me?

Cosmetology, aesthetician school question…….?

If you are undecided in which field you really want to go into, (ex. hair, or aesthetics) but you are leaning more toward esthetics would you go ahead and apply for the whole cosmetology license or only do aesthetics?

Cosmetologist VS. Esthetician?

I am 19 and I had my mind made up that I was going to go to Beauty school to become an esthetician. So I was talking to someone last night and they said if your going to be an esthetician you should just get your Cosmetology Licenses because they teach you about skin also. But in Cosmetology they do not go into as much depth about the skin and learn how to do Microdermabrasion and facials etc. do they? I know I would love doing hair but I kind of wanted to go more for skin. Now I am so confused and the next cosmetology class starts the very first week in July and its over ,000 for the school I will be going to so I need some advice everyone's telling me do what you want to do. And I know I am going to do what I want to do but I DON'T KNOW what to do. I am so frustrated about this. can someone please give me some advice. Like if I do cosmetology could I still work at like a day spa/salon? Do you think I would make better money...or should I just do esthetics and work somewhere such as Sona Med Spa? please help thanks

how to get money for a trade school that doesnt have financial aid?

I'm an esthetician who wants to go get my laser training at the laser institute in AZ. Its over 8000 not including the two week accomidation fee and i need find help paying for it. I'm still paying off for my esthetics training. They offer a scholarship worth 1000 but thats not enough and the government doesnt give grants for these kind of trades anyone know where i can look for money for school?

Cosmetology VS Esthetician. Which JOB?

I am applying for a beauty school that offer Cosmetology and Esthetics Technology. I cannot decide on which would be better for me, I know I would love both of them BUT if I become a cosmetologist I will mostly be doing hair and I know a cosmetologist is also a licensed esthetican but they do not go into as much depth with it. If I were to become and Esthetician I could choose to work at either a spa/salon or go into dermatology. I need some advice, I am 20 years old what job what probably be the best choice? What are some pros and cons for the both of them, & which one do you think has a higher pay? I know I would have to build up clients but what do you think?

I am wondering could I work in a dermatology office in the esthetics part of it (facials, botox, etc.) with just an esthetician license and micodermabrasion certification??

where are certified/accredited esthetician schools (affordable if any)???
i am taking a 6 month long program where im from at a tech/vocational school and then i can take the state test for an actual license...

after that though, i want to further my esthetics knowledge with more schools/programs. where can i find these? stuff like laser or medical aesthetics or just anything besides basic esthetics.

If an esthetician were to go to college, what would be the best major?
I know that estheticians only need certification and do not need college, but ... any college is better than none in general??

So besides esthetician training (and anything similar like hair, makeup, laser, etc. furthering in this field)...what major would most benefit an esthetician?? (and minor)....

Learning spanish to communicate with more ppl?
Psychology to understand them?
English for clear comm and self marketing skills and possibly a beauty writer for esthetics?
Graphic Design to do own site and everything?
Chemistry or pre-med stuff to understand sciences and skin?
