HELP! I've been in Atlanta for a whole month and can't get hired! I'm even trying grocery stores!?
Okay. I'm a licensed esthetician and I've visited every company website within a walking/bussing radius of my apartment in Buckhead since arriving here to join by boyfriend last month. I have 3.5 years of experience and left a job as the lead esthetician at a four diamond resort to come here. I also have hosted at restaurants, worked as a title processor, salon receptionist, retail sales associate, art instructor, and of course i am definitely making sure this experience is reflected in my resume. Yet I am at a loss. I obtained my Georgia esthetics license prior to arriving. After scouring all of the positions available in Atlanta area spas, I ended up hand-delivering and emailing my resume to EVERY day spa, hotel spa, etc. within my area so that they have my information when something becomes available. Then i started looking for open positions and leaving applications on file with anyone and everyone. We're talking bussing tables, retail, receptionist, Target!! I have no pride issues at all, I just want a job! I stalk every single website daily and apply to any new listings i see that i think i may be qualified for. I am unfortunately without a car and so everything has to be walkable or bussable. The only thing i have wondered is if the job market is extra competitive out here. Does anyone have some insight about this city, or why it's so challenging to get an interview?

Cosmetologist VS. Esthetician?
I am 19 and I had my mind made up that I was going to go to Beauty school to become an esthetician. So I was talking to someone last night and they said if your going to be an esthetician you should just get your Cosmetology Licenses because they teach you about skin also. But in Cosmetology they do not go into as much depth about the skin and learn how to do Microdermabrasion and facials etc. do they? I know I would love doing hair but I kind of wanted to go more for skin. Now I am so confused and the next cosmetology class starts the very first week in July and its over ,000 for the school I will be going to so I need some advice everyone's telling me do what you want to do. And I know I am going to do what I want to do but I DON'T KNOW what to do. I am so frustrated about this. can someone please give me some advice. Like if I do cosmetology could I still work at like a day spa/salon? Do you think I would make better money...or should I just do esthetics and work somewhere such as Sona Med Spa? please help thanks

What are the different services offered in the Health and Beauty industry?

Is that right?

Dermatologist: Is there really ANY way to get rid of black heads on your nose?
I have tried OTC stuff as well as facials with microdermabrasion & extractions at a medical day spa but nothing really helps.
And are higher end brands like Philosophy, Murad, etc. better products than OTC drug store brands?
THANKS

How To Go About Getting My Skin Evaluated & Put On a Good Face Regimen?
should I go to a medical day spa?
dermatologist?
a place like ulta?
Where is the best place to go to get help with my skin care regimen, makeup etc.
Recently my skin just looks dry and dull. Who would best help with skin advice?
I hate to go to the dermatologist (no insurance)

Would it be a good or a bad idea to work at spa after college?
I should explain that a bit better.
Right now I am finishing a Hospitality degree and I want to work in spas. My school offers a Spa Concentration, and I would only have to take a few more courses to complete the concentration. Pretty much everything else in my degree, besides my internship hours, are done with. So far, the classes I have taken for spas covered things like types of spas, clients, design, management, marketing, stuff like that.
Right now I am interning at a medical spa in Florida, for a well-known cosm. dermatologist who also owns a day spa ( I occasionally volunteer some of my internship hours there too), so I figured it would be a good thing to have on my resume and could be a good resource. I've considered getting licenced in massage therapy but not really decided on that
My mother says that working in a spa would be too unstable, and doesn't really think it's the best idea. What do you think... are there any good jobs at spas (day, destination, etc) out there that I could do?

"Culinary Field..Vs.. Spa Industry/Business?" Why/Why Not?">>See Below?
" Background Information>>"....I am a middle aged single woman. I have worked most of my adult life in the food industry in some area or another. Bakery was the hardest. I was going to try something unrelated... towards attending school for Esthetician..to work in a Day Spa.. however.. reading many blogs.. many are not finding work. The school cost 10 grand.. and you work on straight commission, It takes years they say to build a client book.. and I wouldn't be able to go it alone .. until I get enough money and clients to do so. Besides that.. not finding work may help me to go homeless.lol..Well.. could. The Spas expect you to bring in all the work.. and yet..your not allowed to bring the clients with you when you leave. I thought this would be less strenuous work physically on me and my body.. however.. if I can't find work or much of it.. the school won't want to wait for re paying the loan that long. This woman in CA said on a Spa Blog.. that she can't find work and wish she never did it now.. because she is in debt. However.. I read that the spa industry has not been affected that much or hard yet. But.. that must mean those already in it.. not recent grads.. At a Community College here .. they have a program for one year for a food production or prep.. towards becoming a cook, assistant cook or grill cook.. When I worked at a hotel these people made a decent.. wage and received benefits.. working nights .. is good because I am a night owl.. I would have a steady stream of income.. which would allow me to continue my schooling during the days.. for an associates in Culinary. What do you all think .. why / why not?
Also.. They say food and medical are the two main areas in any recession that would never suffer because people need both areas ... and food is a necessity.. luxury services are not..
Should I not allow my middle age to deter me? I love to cook.. I am a foodie.. I am a good cook.

"What are some inexpensive.. nice place to rent a home in Oregon?">>>?
I am thinking about relocating.. I want to be in the suburbs or just outside of.. rural..but not too much. Safety is a huge concern. Where I live in Wisconsin the crime is very very low. The roads are not at all whatsoever congested. Which is why there are hardly any car accidents. I like that and will miss both. However.. I fell in love with the beauty of Oregon. Wisconsin has beauty also.. I would actually consider staying.. if there were more jobs and less brutal winters. There is a lot of land here.. but the tornado threats scare me. I want to buy land one day to build a home.. and with the tornados its hard to imagine here. Winters don't allow you to go anywhere.. and you call out of work a lot. I am an Esthetician.. who works at a day spa. This is my career.. Will I be able to find work prior to coming there somehow? Or once there? I have a liscense. It would be a shame if I can't .. but.. don't want to find this out once there. I am paying for rent 650.00 a month for an apartment... only and I pay all utilities which brings that way.. way .. up. So.. Oregon seems to be more affordable.. with more beauty.. Here its all farm. No mountains.. A Lot of lakes.. but.. I miss the oceans .. light houses etc. How is the economy.. unemployment? Is there a whole sale grocery store. We have Woodmans here and everything is a few dollars less then at a regular priced one. The bakeries and pizza here are horrible. The snow never melts and the single digits.. are freeezing and you can't get around much. Crime is low.. low low.. and I have to drive a far ways to get places and do things.. I do live in a small small town.. that has many shops .. but other then that. I can't save here.. from driving far.. hibrinating all winter.. and going stretches when a job is hard to find. Please Help. Thanks
