To be able to move to France and work there an American citizen has to apply for a long stay visa, a residence and work permit form the nearest French consulate in the USA. This is the equivalent to the American green card and is very difficult to obtain.
Sorry to have to disappoint you but there are now new rules about immigration to Europe and people originating from outside the EU are no longer allowed to move there permanently or to work there unless they have a particular skill or knowledge which is not possible to find in the EU. I am afraid that there are plenty of EU citizens with diplomas like yours, so it would not be considered a skill which is particularly desirable and enable you to move to any Schengen state such as France.
If you want to come to France as a visitor the maximum stay is limited to 90 days and it is forbidden tho take any paid employment during this period.
Before you get too involved in this, the answer is a very quick – sorry you cannot. As a citizen of the USA, you can only visit France for a maximum of three months as a tourist and cannot do ANY work there. In order to work in France (or other EU countries you must be a citizen of one of those places). Work of every type is reserved for people from EU/Schengen countries. There is a remote possibility that you could, if you could fulfill many conditions, apply for a long term resident visa, but you still could not do any kind of work. BTW this is not that different from USA laws requiring a person to obtain a green card.
