Esthetician Supplies

resume examples for a new esthetician?

I am having trouble developing a resume as a newly liscensed esthetician. I am not sure how to format or what to put on a resume so any help would be great. I have never had a job in the industry before (only selling pet supplies) so it concerns me that that would turn away employes. Any tips, examples, etc would be helpful.

Why would Spa Busness Owners and Staff be synical to others trying to better themselves?

" I know..the economy is hurting right now.. and mabe this is not the right or perfect time to go back to school for certain occupations.. But.. I and other hope things will pick up and improve. I contacted this Spa.. actually 12.. one only replied back.. asking about the field with the economy.. and was told its hard .. because no one want to hire new grads? Well she and others were all new graduates at one time. As an Esthetician in WI.. unlike.. Cosmetology... we can work with our license on our own if we want. The spas expect you to do the leg work.. bring in all the busness then when your ready to leave .. you can't take with you the busness you brought in? How is that fair.. when an Esthetician.. is a Professional with a lisense who can work from home no over head.. bringing in all the clients.. Also.. if busness was bad or that slow.. how can the Spas afford to pay their employees then.. and why aren't they shutting down. As an esthetician.. you can contract yourself out to Theatres..Opera house.. that is more money.. If your brave.. enough to go into high end dancing establishments and escort services that is even more money.. they need these services for their busness and looks.. they make thousands a day. I don't know.. why these Spas are so.. caddy.. acting like we Estheticians that are recent graduates can't get clients alone...when the spa requests we do this for them.. Also.. these Spas cant supply hours.. and yet make you sign a clause to not work at another? When you have to pay your rent? It all depends .. on how persistant and what a go getter you are. You can sell yourself and services. Also.. products and baskets.. spa parties for kids..teens adults.. etc. Bridal Parties.. ideas are endless.. Should I not... let this experience with this email that was negative to get me down? If ... I were a cosmetologist here.. I would have no choice but to work under a spas license for two years before .. I could go it alone.. but .. I am not... and don't. Cheer Me On Friends.. I need the encouragement. Thanks

Murad Professional Sized products?

Im a (licensed)salon professional, as are many of my family members (cosmetologists, nail techs & esthetician). Im looking to find Murad in professional sizes, but cannot find it at my local beauty supply store (CB Sullivan). I see the products available on Ebay, but I will not use ebay/paypal any longer. Any other ideas of where I can find the professionally sized products.

Estheticians/cosmetologists: Is an employer taking 40% of my earnings too much in this situation?

I'm an esthetician who has been considering going to work for this woman who is starting up her own mobile spa/salon business. It would be a great job because of the flexible schedule, but the major down side is that I would have to put a ton of money towards my own supplies. All the owner does is marketing/advertising to try and get us clients. This wouldn't be such a huge deal, but the owner is going to be taking 40% of our earnings, and although I know nothing about the mobile spa business, this seems really high for someone who isn't providing a massage table or any of the supplies that I will be using. Just wanted to get some more opinions from other cosmetologists/estheticians on this to see if this seems reasonable or not?
Dr. Deth, I think when you responded you missed the fact that I had stated that this is a MOBILE business. Meaning that this owner does not pay any rent, any utilities, etc. She doesn't even pay to have us insured. We have to pay for ourselves to get bonded through the state. We go to people's houses or places of business to perform services. All the owner does is post up flyers for her business, pass out business cards and try to network to get her stylists, estheticians, etc business. The fees she has to pay are pretty nominal.

I want to become a freelance make-up artist? How do I start?

I am a newly licensed esthetician. I really enjoy make-up artistry & I want to take my career in that direction. How do I start up a portfolio? What (how much) will I need to buy for supplies (ie: tools & make-up)? Do I need to hire a professional photographer? Thanks in advance for your advice!

What type of training/schooling is required to become a licensed esthetician?

How many hours (or credits) are required?
How long does the course take (one year of schooling, two years, etc.).
What can an average school tuition with supplies cost?

I was also wondering what the pay is like in this field.
