What is a better career? Manicurist or an Esthetician?

I really want to take cosmetology course but unfortunately it is an extremely high tuition. I was am looking into taking a course for a manicurist or an esthetician both which are both a lot lot more reasonable for my budget. Which one do you think is a better career plan until I can do the full cosmetology course and hopefully work straight out of the program! :)

Is an esthetician a suitable career in Miami Florida?

I was thinking about going to La Belle Beauty Academy to become an esthetician which deals with skin and makeup. I was wandering if when I complete the course, am I going to have many job opportunities and how good the pay could be. Any personal experiences are welcome! Thank you.

Cosmetology, Esthetician or Medical Assistant?

Which one is a good career for a single 24 year old female? I can't decide which one I want go for, it's really making me frustrated! I always wanted to be a makeup artist, but I don't think it's a stable career. I definitely plan on getting married and having kids one day, and be a stay at home mom.. I want something I can go back to when my kids grow up. I'm just so confused!!

what is an esthetician career like?

I see it will take less than a year to get an esthetician certificate. I wanted to do that real quick and use that job while doing something more advanced in school (bachelors in sociology and legal studies) I'm also having a baby this summer so I want something decently stable so I can stay in school and be able to support us. I'm in the Atlanta area. Is the pay good? (I'm well under the poverty level right now) Is it easy to find a job? Is is stable?

Esthetician License or Makeup Artist Certification?

I am interested in pursuing a career as a Make Up Artist. I live in North Carolina and there are no good schools that I know of that has courses specializing in just make up. However, several beauty schools offer esthetician licenses. To all of you make up artists out there. Should I just pursue my esthetician license, or maybe invest in some distance online makeup artistry program?

" I Need To Know.. What Kind Of Short Term Job/Career Schooling.. I Can Take.. For A Loner?"?

I was going to go to school for five months.. which is a good time period to aquire a skill.. for Esthetician.. but the economy has failed me there.. and I was not about to pay 10 grand for nothing.. to not find work.. or a few hours a week jobs. I was looking into Vet Tech. at a Community College.. however.. the state I live in only has an associate.. not a 6-10 month program. I am worried ... if I start to take classes for the Vet Tech.. something can happen bad financially to my situation.. and I will be up the creek without a paddle. I know.. there are no quick fixes .. I just wish the Vet Tech was less time to complete. With pre requisits it could take longer even.. going part time.. Mabe.. that isn't realistic at my middle age. But.. I wanted to do something I enjoy. ..but shorter term course... to get out and make some money... without sacrificing my happiness. Please Help..Thanks
Do You All.. think I should just.. go and take the 5 months program that leads to a lisence.. in Estheology..for skin and body treatments in order to make some money and work for myself in addition to on the side and not think about the money aspect of the cost of the program? OR... Do I take the long .......road.. towards Vet Technician.. which I love animals but honestly... from all I have read this can be an extremely sad profession on a regular basis?

Do you think your parents' occupations have influenced your career choices?

My mother is a makeup artist (esthetician), and I love that I was able to be exposed to that at a young age. I know so much about colors and textures and skin types, people think I'm a professional. I'm grateful for that, because it really helps in the theatre world, where I'm involved. If my mother hadn't been what she is, I don't think I would have benefited as much as I have.

On the other hand, my father is a family physician. While I have nothing against doctors, I also learned at an early age that medicine was not for me. As fulfilling it is to cure people and to save lives, at the same time it's a very great burden, and it's a stressful and time-consuming lifestyle. Of course, I could have made a lot of money as a surgeon, but I can't really stomach the sight of real blood. xP

Anyway, I would just like all your opinions on the subject.
